Global crude steel production in the 64 countries included in the World Steel Association statistics was 162.7 million tonnes in May 2019, an increase of 5.4% year-on-year.
China's crude steel production in May 2019 was 89.1 million tonnes, an improvement of 10.0% year-on-year. India's crude steel production in May was 9.2 million tonnes, an improvement of 5.1% year-on-year. Japan's crude steel production in May was 8.7 million tonnes, down 4.6% year-on-year. South Korea produced 6.4 million tonnes of crude steel in May, an improvement of 2.2% year-on-year.
In the EU region, Italy's crude steel production in May 2019 was 2.2 million tonnes, an improvement of 1.1% year-on-year; France's crude steel production in May was 1.2 million tonnes, down 7.6% year-on-year; and Spain's crude steel production in May was 1.3 million tonnes, down 7.1% year-on-year.
US crude steel production in May 2019 was 7.7 million tonnes, an improvement of 5.4% year-on-year.
Ukraine's crude steel production in May 2019 was 1.8 million tonnes, an improvement of 7.8% year-on-year.
Brazil's crude steel production in May 2019 was 2.8 million tonnes, an improvement of 2.9 per cent year-on-year.
Turkey's crude steel production in May 2019 was 3.1 million tonnes, down 8.0% year-on-year.
